Sunrise, Montauk, NY
This is what I had envisioned. This is what I wanted to see and photograph. A beautiful and brilliant sunrise, rocks, and the ocean. I live in NJ. Jersey beaches don’t look like this. I searched the maps; Bing, Google Earth. I wanted to find a beach within a reasonable distance for us to pack up the car and drive to with the off chance that we’d be able to witness and photograph something as spectacular as this. The end of Long Island New York, Montauk, looked just like that place according to my investigations using the maps.
So we set out. Packed the car. Crossed our fingers for good weather and good fortune and a spot to camp for a couple of nights. Luck was with us. Maybe because it was her birthday this weekend. I’ve thanked her for so many things in my life so this is just another one of those miracles she managed to pull out and let me participate in. All I can say about that sunrise is, wow, and thank you.

We woke up before 4:30 am, a record for me I think. We drove to Camp Hero State Park in the Hamptons. What a great gift from the Gods on my birthday and from Michael who got me out of the tent, what a beautiful sunrise. The most colorful I’ve ever seen. I couldn’t have asked for a better morning.
