to go up or down
Sunrise, Montauk, NY
This is what I had envisioned. This is what I wanted to see and photograph. A beautiful and brilliant sunrise, rocks, and the ocean. I live in NJ. Jersey beaches don’t look like this. I searched the maps; Bing, Google Earth. I wanted to find a beach within a reasonable distance for us to pack up the car and drive to with the off chance that we’d be able to witness and photograph something as spectacular as this. The end of Long Island New York, Montauk, looked just like that place according to my investigations using the maps.
So we set out. Packed the car. Crossed our fingers for good weather and good fortune and a spot to camp for a couple of nights. Luck was with us. Maybe because it was her birthday this weekend. I’ve thanked her for so many things in my life so this is just another one of those miracles she managed to pull out and let me participate in. All I can say about that sunrise is, wow, and thank you.

Michael, in the zone…
Funny Story… We were out all day, I was half asleep in the car feeling like I was drugged or something. The car stops and michael just says I need a nap, knowing him, he doesn’t do this a lot… I knew he must have been more tired than me, I’ve been getting cat naps all day. We recline the seats and take a long nap. We wake up about an hour later groggy, looking out ahead thinking ew, overcast, no light, I guess we didn’t miss anything. I look to my left and I feel like I can’t get the words out, I say “Look look look…” Michael jumps out gets the camera out, and tries to set up a shot… The light goes so quickly, and boom it’s gone in a minute. I decided to just take a picture of him in action to add to the scrapbooks.
